Calculate your Pokerstars Rakeback

Due to the 2010 changes to the VIP program at PokerStars, this page is obsolete. Equivalent rakeback percentages can be found here.

Rakeback, simply, is how much of the rake payed by a player (MGR) is returned to them as a bonus for playing at a site. This can be reworded into the following equation: ($ returned)/MGR. MGR is ($ raked from pot)/(players dealt in). Pokerstars uses the "dealt" method to distrubute FPP's. This means that even if you do not contribute to the rake but are dealt in, you will receive FPP's, or rakeback.

Step-by-Step Instructions
1. Find the following:

  • Your MGR (see "How to Find your MGR," below)
  • The number of hands the MGR is calculated over
  • VPP/hand
  • How much each VPP is worth to you (check out this calculator)
(To solve by hand, use steps 2-4. Otherwise, use the calculator, below.)

2. Calculate average rake/hand. (MGR)/(# hands in sample)
3. Calculate $ returned/hand. (VPP/hand)*($/1 VPP)
4. Calculate rakeback percentage. ($ returned/hand)/(average rake/hand)*100%

Example for Calculating by Hand
MGR over 10,000 hands is $1,000.
VPP/hand is 0.33.
$/VPP is $0.0525 (1 VPP*3.5FPP/VPP*$0.15/FPP) for a Supernova who will not reach a milestone and buys $1500 bonuses.

Rake/hand = ($1,000)/10,000 hands = $0.10
$ returned/hand = $0.017325 ($0.0525/VPP*0.33 VPP/hand)
RB % = $0.017325/$0.10*100% = 17%
