VPP/hand

The following chart shows approximate VPP/hand accrual rates. Click game type for a breakdown of stakes and vpp/hand. Please note that these figures are very approximate and will vary based on play style, table selection, time of day, etc. Below these tables are instructions on how to calculate this based on your own database. If you would like to help fill in blanks or provide your own vpp/hand to make these numbers more accurate, please don't hesitate to email. HU hands have not been included as they are too dependant on your own play style as well as the play style of your opponents. Pot Limit Hold'em is not included. Typically, the VPP/hand rates for PLHE are slightly higher than NLHE. See the instructions below to calculate VPP/hand from your own data.

UPDATED FOR 2010 CHANGES. PLEASE CONTRIBUTE YOUR VPP/HAND RATES IN THIS THREAD

Calculating VPP/hand by Hand
Open up a few tables at the selected limit and game type in question. Open the Instant Hand History viewer (click Game #xxxxx in the top left corner).

Keep track of how many total hands you examine. Also keep track of how many VPP's have been earned in those hands.

Everytime the rake reaches $0.40 at $1/$2 or lower LHE or NLHE games or 1-on-1 tables, add 1 VPP to the total. For other games or limits, add 1 VPP to the total everytime the rake reaches $1.00.

At 6-max tables, everytime the rake reaches $2.00, add an additional VPP. For all other tables, add an additional VPP when the rake reaches $3.00.

When you reach a decent number of hands (say 70+) take the total VPP's earned and divide by the total hands. The bigger your sample size (number of observed hands), the more accurate the VPP/hand number will be. This method should only be used to obtain a rough approximation.

An example of your notes may look like:

Limit: $2/$4 NLHE Full Ring
Hands: 110
Rake >= $1.00: 45
Rake >= $3.00: 20
VPP/hand: (20+45)/110=0.59
